Bio
I am a photographer based in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, in the historic town of Toodyay.
My two-year stint as editor at The Toodyay Herald sparked and deepened a long-held interest in both photography and writing.
As editor I was privileged to observe and record everyday Toodyay life through photographs and media articles, chronicling the town’s people, events and stories.
If the Toodyay Agricultural Show was on or the horses were galloping at the annual Picnic Day Races, I’d be there to capture the moment with care and timing.
I also regularly covered more sombre occasions, including ANZAC Day and other memorial services, documenting quiet, respectful moments.
Living in the Avon River valley — a global biodiversity hotspot — gives me the chance to record local wildlife, changing seasons and the ebbs and flows of the river as they shape the landscape and community.
I’m a generalist photographer who prefers landscapes.
The Wheatbelt’s colors change a lot — from bright yellow canola to the varied greens of the Australian bush.
Over the last two years I have been fortunate to receive multiple photographic awards across a range of genres (landscape, people, action, historic) at the local agricultural show, an experience that has been both gratifying and encouraging for my ongoing creative work.
I shoot on a Canon 5D Mark IV and R6 Mark II (with main lenses: 16 - 35mm f2.8, 24 - 105mm f4, 70 - 300mm f4 - 5.6, 150 - 600mm f5 - 6.3).
